The character exercises have been very helpful, just time consuming. I feel like everything is moving on an for the betterment of the book. I wish I had more time and motivation to be spending writing. I know everyone in the field says "you have to spend money to make money". That's not really my goal, but I get the point anyway. What would be most conducive to getting my books finished: Quitting my day job. That's not really possible at this time, due to monetary reasons, plus I like my day job the majority of the time.
So, we move forward continuing with re-writes. Finding time and energy after 8 PM to "fix" it. Can't wait for the finished process. Trying to also keep up with my leisure reading and work speech engagements. I'll try to be more responsible and keep you all updates more frequently than once a month.
